Sterling Mini Cu 380 Ag is a non-hormonal copper intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD) incorporating a silver-core copper wire. Contraception is achieved through the local release of copper ions within the uterine cavity, which induces a sterile inflammatory reaction that is toxic to sperm, impairing sperm motility and viability and preventing fertilization. The device also produces endometrial changes that make implantation unlikely, while normal ovulation is maintained. 

The silver core does not act as a contraceptive; instead, it enhances structural stability of the copper wire, helps reduce corrosion and fragmentation, and supports consistent copper integrity over time, contributing to reliable long-term performance.
