About Us

 

Our Name, Our Legacy

 

DKT Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. is named after Doctor D.K. (Deep) Tyagi, a former assistant commissioner of family planning in India, who played a pivotal role in introducing modern family planning methods to millions of people. Despite passing away at the young age of 41, Dr. Tyagi made a major contribution to his country’s family planning efforts.

Dr. Tyagi maintained close ties with his village in Uttar Pradesh, which allowed him to see a fundamental incongruity between national family planning goals and the traditional aspirations of rural Indians. His work did much to bridge this gap. Starting in 1966, when modern contraceptives were virtually unknown in rural India, Dr. Tyagi’s massive behaviour change program brought awareness about contraception to millions of people. His simple, attractive messages and designs, including the iconic Red Triangle became commonplace throughout the country, overcame societal barriers, and increased understanding of modern contraceptive methods.

DKT Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. is an affiliate of DKT International, USA, which is a global social enterprise providing affordable and accessible sexual and reproductive health products and services. Since 1989, DKT has empowered millions of people across 100+ countries through social marketing. Today, DKT International is recognised as one of the world's leading and most respected organisations active in sexual and reproductive health, particularly appreciated for its strong impact and low costs for the Couple Year Protection (CYP's) against unwanted pregnancies.

DKT Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. builds on the long-standing work of DKT India, which began operations in 1992 to support family planning, reproductive health awareness, and HIV prevention in partnership with the broader healthcare ecosystem. It operates with the objective of expanding access to high-quality, affordable reproductive and sexual health products in India. Guided by decades of global expertise and strong partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, the company works to ensure that individuals and couples have reliable options for making informed reproductive choices.

Divisions of DKT Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd.

Over-the-Counter (OTC) Division

This division focuses on making safe and effective reproductive health products available through pharmacies, modern trade outlets, and online platforms. Our OTC products include condoms, emergency contraceptive pills, and oral contraceptives—sold under well-known brands such as Zaroor, Fiesta, TimeMax, and Choice. Marketing promotions for the OTC division are led by DKT India, the dedicated marketing arm of DKT Healthcare, ensuring focused brand building and consistent market visibility. Through engaging trade campaigns, high-visibility marketing, and regular field promotions, the OTC division ensures that contraceptives are not only stocked but actively supported and recommended by knowledgeable and component chemists throughout India.

Medical KARE Division

This division caters to healthcare professionals, clinics & hospitals, promoting products that require medical consultation or administration. These include copper intrauterine devices (IUDs), the Emirelle LNG-IUS, injectables, medical abortion kits, manual vacumn aspirator kits, specific oral contraceptive pills, maternal health supplements and since recently contraceptive implants. The Medical KARE division also supports clinical capacity-building efforts to ensure safe, evidence-based reproductive healthcare across India.
