A-Kare is a prescription-only medical abortion combipack indicated for the termination of early intrauterine pregnancy up to 63 days (9 weeks) from the first day of the last menstrual period. It provides a clinically established, non-surgical method of pregnancy termination and must be administered strictly under the supervision of a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) in accordance with national guidelines.
Pharmacology & Mechanism of Action
The regimen consists of a sequential administration of Mifepristone followed by Misoprostol. Mifepristone 200 mg acts as a progesterone receptor antagonist. By blocking progesterone, it disrupts the maintenance of pregnancy, leading to detachment of the gestational sac. Misoprostol 200 mcg induces uterine contractions and cervical softening, facilitating expulsion of pregnancy tissue.
Indication
Medical termination of early intrauterine pregnancy (≤63 days).
